Titleist ProV1x Golf Ball

Working as a Senior Manager in the Titleist R&D team in the early 2000s, Ed Hebert (now Principal of The Blue Ocean) and his R&D colleagues were pushing the boundaries of innovation in the sport of golf. Quickly following on their successful launch of the now-viral Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, the Titleist R&D team explored new ways to refine the cast urethane ball construction, optimizing it for players with uncommonly high swing speeds.

Ed co-invented and developed the Titleist ProV1x, a dual-core construction with a lower-lift dimple configuration.  The first of many patents protecting this product was US Patent 7,090,798

The Titleist ProV1x golf ball—together with its sister the Titleist Pro V1—delivered a "one-two punch" to the world of golf that is still being felt decades later. These golf balls continue to dominate the market many years after their initial introduction.
